Polarization with Bellows Extensions
I have photographed crystal formations since my early days of photography; first at Yale University, and later at University of Florida Shands Hospital. Worked in my studio to set-up this shot of citric acid (right). It is revealing to see how the crystal patterns break, as you adjust the set of polarizing filters. This process is known as birefringe.

Medical Photography
Most of my current work on clinical, pathological, photography is done primarily with strobes triggered with radio frequencies. On ophthalmic and other specialized photography it varies depending on the subject, and the assignment.
